Hostel Centre
A short but memorable stay.
19.12.14 - 8.1.15
Yekaterinburg, December 28 - 30th 2014
That's it, Hostel_Centre, where I stayed while in Yekaterinburg.
The fact that my hostel was actually one among the list of historical and cultural monuments in the region was something prestigious. It was a stone mansion of a merchant named Sapozhnikov.
However, for me, that was a matter of less interest compared to:
the basement windows. When I was a kid, watching movies, I had been fascinated by these kinds of windows. It was contrary to what I learned about drawing: Windows are squares to be drawn above the ground; If it begins from the ground, then that's a door. One of the movie scenes was a lady shoveling snow off the windowsill. The first time I saw basement windows like this was in Turkey. But it was summer then. So now, I kind of bring that movie scene to life. Call me silly, but I was excited.
A pair of feet passing by... so movie-like.
The view from my room. Yay, that little window sash! Now I can touch it. All these time I have been fascinated (also) by the particular Russian little window sash, but had never experienced staying behind one.
My bedroom was cute. I loved it so much that I bought the same IKEA pillow case and quilt for my bed at home. Thank to IKEA for finally coming to Jakarta :D Also have I a similar IKEA reading lamp. Every night, when I switch off that light, I remember this room, in Hostel Centre, Yekaterinburg,
